Let’s Look IN-fertility

Let’s Look IN-fertility

Infertility is defined as the inability to achieve pregnancy after one year of unprotected sex. There are 2 major types of infertility i.e. Primary Infertility and Secondary infertility. Primary Infertility refers to the condition where the female partner fails to conceive even once, on the other hand, secondary infertility refers to the condition where the female partner fails to conceive after the first pregnancy. Infertility affects many people and causes mental agony to married couples which also causes social insecurity. But the main thing to understand is that infertility is a lifestyle cause and not a disease.  Studies show that Globally 55% is male infertility and 45% is female infertility but unfortunately in India majorly females are blamed even when both partners are equally responsible for it. A man today has only about half the sperm his grandfather had. Doctors of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) have reported that while the sperm count of a normal Indian adult male used to be 60 million/ml three decades ago, it now stands at around 20 million/ml. As per Ayurved, There are 4 things responsible for healthy pregnancy which are

  1. Kshetra (Healthy Uterus)
  2. Ambu (Nutrition)
  3. Beej (Quality of Sperm and Ovum)
  4. Ritu (time of coitus)

CAUSES OF INFERTILITY

Any reasons or aspects that are hindering the above 4 factors resulting in infertility.

The major Causes are:

  1. Chemicals, Pesticides, GM foods, radiation and prolonged exposure to heat.
  2. Unhealthy Lifestyle and lack of physical activity.
  3. Smoking and alcohol
  4. Pollution
  5. High-pressure jobs
  6. Genetic disorders
  7. PFAS Compounds
  8. Obesity

The major possible issues observed in females are PCOD/PCOS, pH changes in the tract, Hormonal imbalance, uterine fibroids, endometriosis (An appearance of endometrial tissue outside of the uterus that causes pelvic pain), adenomyosis, obstruction in the fallopian tube and many more. The major possible issues observed in males are varicoceles (In the scrotum, just above the testicles, varicoceles are believed to be caused by defective valves. Blood flows into and out of the testicles through these valves. Blood backs up when the normal flow is not occurring, causing veins to dilate (enlarge). This leads to less sperm production) and Azoospermia (Hormonal Imbalance – Sperm are absent from the fluid ejaculated (semen). An obstruction in the reproductive tract and insufficient sperm production may lead to azoospermia).

Major Ayurvedic Medicines should be taken into consideration by both males and females.

  1. Diet regulations that should include fertility-enhancing ingredients and should also be Organic.
  2. Include some exercises and sports which would make you physically active
  3. Take proper counselling from experts.
  4. Document menstruation from the beginning and diagnose it.
